 About West Slope Arabians West Slope Arabians is owned and operated by Chip and Robin Burnside in Hillsboro, Oregon. The original farm was located in West Slope, a small area located near Portland's West Hills and started in 1984 with the purchase of our first purebred Arabian, the four month old OSU Aableu. Prior to that Robin had been enjoying half Arabians since the purchase of her Errabi gelding in 1972. Robin has also owned other breeds, but swears she'll never own anything else again. Chip grew up on a dairy farm near Auckland, New Zealand. Not a rider himself, Chip helped to look after his sister's horses and got really good at "adjusting horse covers". The whole herd moved to the present Hillsboro location in 1993. The farm is located on beautiful property surrounded by farmland, woods and white board fences. OSU Aableu is still here and she has produced six foals of which the five that have been shown class A have all been champions. Ser Hilal joined the farm as a four month old weanling in 1986 and has distinguished himself in the show ring as well as in the breeding shed. Over the years West Slope Arabians have bred one or two foals per year, and concentrate on quality with an emphasis on disposition, type and athletic ability. We have enjoyed showing on a limited but regular basis, and are very pleased to have the excellent training services of Karla Moffitt of Pacific Training Center a few miles away. We are proudly standing Ser Hilal, an IAHA Sweepstakes Nominated Sire at a reasonable stud fee. We offer excellent mare care and transport semen. Ser Hilal and OSU Aableu have both been tested SCID Clear. We welcome visitors and appreciate a call first so that we can be sure to be there for you.
